This well known destination has been operating as a hotel for almost two centuries and has been in the hands of the Duff Family for almost 50 years.
The hotel was built in the mid-18th Century as the town house for the Marquis of Headfort and the Headfort family resided in the house whilst Headfort House was built on the country estate so as you can imagine it was the height of luxury and style, characteristics it still retains to this day.

The Causey Farm Ice Cream Experience is a brand new fun filled family activity which involves exploring Causey Farm and meeting the animals along with lots of ice cream of course from their new ice cream parlour! The perfect adventure for all the family.
Sheridan’s Cheesemonger's Saturday Market-just down the road from Kells you will find the famous Sheridan’s Cheesemongers Headquarters which was formerly the Virginia Road railway station and is a beautiful atmospheric old building. The shop is open 6 days a week with a weekly market on every Saturday morning featuring lots of local producers offering a wide array of delicious food & coffee which you can enjoy on the benches outside.
Rock Farm Slane Organic Farmer’s Market is on every Thursday 10-4pm and features lots of local produce along with a lovely outdoor space with picnic benches from which to enjoy some of your purchases with a coffee. You can also do a walk around the organic Rock Farm and meet some of their animals.
After all your exploring make the most of the Headfort’s stunning garden and extensive cocktail list! There are several dining options to choose from, if the weather is fine, how does a stone baked pizza from their wood fired pizza oven in the garden sound? Or if you fancy something a bit less casua,l then you are guaranteed a fabulous dining experience in The Vanilla Pod restaurant, where local produce from across the Boyne Valley features on the delicious menu.
