[Rock Farm, Slane]

Rock Farm Slane is a glamping, ecotourism and activity centre and organic farm on the Slane Castle estate, in the Boyne Valley, stretching for 1.5km along the banks of the River Boyne. The long track to the farm takes in the views of Slane Village and the Hill of Slane as you wind through fields of barley, agroforestry, cows, chickens and horses to the Limehouse Ecolodge beyond which has been built out of straw from the barley around us.

Relax and recharge on a luxury glamping break at the 90 acre secluded organic Rock Farm Slane which is part of Slane Castle Estate and directly across the river from Slane Castle. Mature woodland overlooks the glamping - luxury yurts, shepherds huts and bell tents with communal living area, kitchen, clay pizza oven, fire pit and lots of space. Enjoy the natural swimming pool and outdoor hot tub.

Rock Farm is ideal for reunions, celebrations, corporate and special interest groups. It is a very popular venue for weddings. Catering and activities are available on the farm and locally.

Rock Farm glamping comprises yurts, shepherd’s huts, a bell tent village and self-catering properties. The luxury yurts sleep up to 6 people. Self-catering houses include Lime House, Ireland’s biggest straw-bale house, which sleeps 22 people and is popular with groups of friends and for family reunions. An outdoor wooden hot tub and natural swimming pool are just two of the added extras which make Rock Farm a very special destination.

  • Shepherds Huts and the self-catering properties are open all year round.
  • Yurts reopen for booking on Wednesday 20th March and the Bell Tent Village opens for the summer at the beginning of May.

Carina and Alex started farming in 2010 when they took on a lonely old farm known locally as the Rock, on the other side of the river from Slane Castle. They immediately threw ourselves into organic farming and have depended on the help and advice from good friends, neighbours (including the members of The Slane Food Circle) and other organic farmers from around the country and further afield; as well as the goodwill and enthusiasm of Wwoofers and other volunteers.
It is this enthusiasm and knowledge-sharing that has got us where we are today and we are massively grateful for that.
Experience Rock Farm for yourself and their weekly Farmer's Markets or on one of their tours.

GUIDED FARM TOURS
Guided tours of Rock Farm are a fascinating insight into this pioneering 90-acre organic farm and ecotourism destination on the historic Slane Castle Estate. Visitors learn about the life of an organic farmer and artisan producer while they walk through the farm that is home to rare breed animals like Dexter cows and Tamworth pigs as well as the happy flock of chickens who provide free range eggs. They tour the organic market garden which produces bumper crops of veg and see fields filled with the barley used for the whiskey made at Slane Distillery. It’s an opportunity to learn about eco-tourism, glamping and strawbale buildings. Regular Farm Tours will recommence later in the year and are bookable through the website. Private Farm Tours for groups of six people or more can be organised at any time of year by emailing info@rockfarmslane.ie.
